Three things worth noting . . .

So in the last week i have learnt three valuable lessons that i will continue to treasure for the rest of my life, concerning: hide and seek, walking down stairs and short cuts. I'll explain these in that order.

Firstly. Hide and seek was not made for people of a 6ft 5 stature. This is rather self explanatory. Once you get past the usual hiding places: under the bed, in the wardrobe (although we all know how that ended) there really is a a distinct lack of places that I can hide in. This then leads to murder in the dark (played with three people finding the murderer isn't rocket science) and numerous games of 'speed'. 'Speed' when played with a 7 year old that likes to cheat becomes almost as boring as playing hide and seek with an 18 year old semi that can only hide in wide open spaces so he can stretch his legs. Needless to say this kind of opposes the whole point of the game.

Secondly. It has come to my attention that one must NEVER, repeat NEVER turn right when walking down the stairs outside the house. It just so happens that the bathroom faces out onto the the stairs that run down the side of the house, and if one is 6ft 5 and happens to turn right you might catch a glimpse of a family member sitting on the toilet. I may have turned right on monday night, i may have made full eye contact with the mum, who may have been smoking whilst using the toilet, and i may be, just may be; and remember this is all hypothetical, scarred for life.

Thirdly. When a 10 year old asks if you know the short cut back home remember to always say yes but that you would rather stick to road anyway; especially if its pitch black and the days' weather has consisted of tropical rain. If you stupidly do say no, please bear in mind that it is very probable that the short cut will be through a farmers field, you will end up ankle deep in manure and your new grey high tops will be ruined. Oh and walking along the road, without the cabbages, manure and ankle deep mud holes would have taken just as long if not a shorter time than the so called 'short cut.' As i write this my three week old high tops are currently soaking in hot water and my prayer life has hit an all time high. Im almost resigned to the fact they will never again, be the same colour. Gutted.
